Hi
Is anyone currently on this drug? I am on the second of a course of 14 post surgery and node clearance following Chemo for a Her 2 positive breast diagnosis.
Whilst nowhere near as bad as the side effects I had from the chemo before my operation I am suffering from aches and pains that are making me feel like an old woman.
Im hobbling and feeling sick. how is everyone else's experience on this drug?
Sarah
Hi Sarah,
Sorry to hear you are struggling. It sounds like we are on a similar journey. I have had surgery and node clearance but still had active cancer cells so I was put on Kadcyla. I had been doing ok on it but I have also started tamoxifen so not sure which has made me fatigued and feeling slightly sick. This month is the first time i have struggled. I have had 6 cycles of Kadcyla with my next one due on Thursday next week. Hope yours settles down but may be worth a chat with BCN. Keep in touch and take care.
What is the tamoxifen for?
My first session seemed ok; a bit sick and achy but this one has made me feel like an old woman.
I think I will take your advice and contact the ward.
are you having Radiotherapy as well? Did your node clearance give you complication? Mine has left me numb and tingling. Its a bit more grim then expected to be honest
Hi Sarah
I only managed 11 out of my 14 rounds of Kadcyla, I was feeling ok on them but my blood tests kept coming back saying that it was affecting my liver function, so they decided my body had been through enough with this and my previous chemo and stopped it . according to my oncologist the 3 I missed will not make a lot of difference if any.

The tamoxifen is part of my hormone blocking treatment. I had radiotherapy just before Christmas. I have the same as you with regards to the numb and tingling arm. I would try and keep up the exercises as they are important. I am feeling a lot better today so just hoping it was a temporary blip. Wishing you well with your treatment.
Hi Sarah I have had 9 out of 14 kadcyla. I finish on 8 th June if I can manage them all. I have aches, pains in muscles and joints and I don’t have same strength before all this. However I’m also on letrozole, anti hormone drug which can cause these side effects. My thinking is it’s the letrozole causing the pains . I don’t have nausea, never have on any of the chemo I’ve had to which I’m grateful. I do hobble though at night and first time in morning. Hope your ok with rest of them
