Just had my first chemo 2 half weeks ago getting next one on Wednesday, next week. My hair started to come out in handfuls just yesterday but today I feel very unwell. My heads sore and my joints arreally sore. I’m on docetaxel. I have felt pretty good all this week not sure if I have overdone it by walking too much maybe that’s why joints are sore. It’s just a minefield of what is gonna come next!
Some side effects do appear some days after treatment. I used to get "Day 6 phenomena" as I called it, where on the fifth day, in the evening, things would start going downhill, hitting me to the fullest on the sixth day. It depends a lot on the type of chemo, and on the patient. As long as you are aware of what should be reported as a matter of urgency, and how to deal with the rest of it.
Hair loss, unfortunately, is a known and common side effect. When this happens, some of us opt to shave the remaining strands off.
Yes I’m kind of on standby to cut it off! Going to get my bloods done Monday morning so will speak to someone about how I’m feeling. I can’t get heat into me but temp seems ok. Thankyou for replying. I just kind of needed to think out loud! I’m been feeling good so hopefully this a blip! Xx

Hi...I'm exactly the same as you, had 1st chemo on 9/2 & due for 2nd cycle this Wednesday 2nd March...my hair has started to come out this week too and head is sore too sensitive to touch. Just waiting for wig lady to get in touch just want to sort one out before I go fully bald..
Hope you will get answers on Monday, I'm having bloods on Tuesday..
We will get through this having read your profile you are already a very strong brave woman.
Good luck x
Ah good to know someone at the same stage as me! I have my wig sorted but can’t even imagine wearing it. It’s so hard, I knew I would find it so difficult … I just have to be positive and believe this is going to stop this from coming back. It’s been a tough year. Will be thinking of you Wednesday. Just taken paracetamol and come to bed, hoping my joint pain will ease off. Thankyou for replying xxxx

Hi Whitestar
I empathise, as I was where you are with the docetaxel exactly a year ago just now. I remember the sore scalp. This improved when I cut hair very short then had it shaved. This did help with the tenderness of the poor hair follicles.
I was also chilled to the marrow and couldn't get a heat in me. Blankets on the sofa plus hot water bottle. Electric blanket in bed.
Remember to take plenty for fluids, and some, and take what you would take for a headache too if you need to.
Wishing you all the best

Oh no! Maybe that’s the next thing for me! That’s the last thing we need. My pain seems to have eased a bit thank goodness! Take care, I too will be thinking of you Wednesday and the days to follow xxx
