CT, Bone & heart scan update?!

So had my oncology appointment before my scans (CT, Bone & Heart) and was wondering if anyone else has/did? Also I was due to have an 'talk' about the ward, procedure etc before the chemo was due to start. But on the following Tuesday from my scans I had a call to see if I could start my chemo on the coming Thursday (10th Feb) due to the targets not being meet at my local hospital. So off I trot to my all in one chemo/induction session and asked about the scans but told that the nurses don't deal with that side of things?!

It has now been 10 days since my scans and presuming that I wouldn't have been given my chemo if my heart wasn't upto itThinking. I have received a call from my oncologist to see how I'm getting on but no mention of scan results. Should I chase up the Breast Care Nurse or presume that no news is goods news? It's the weekly MDT meeting today so maybe wait until this afternoon,, I don't know Pensive

Confused

  • It is true that the nurses on the chemo unit do not deal with scans results, I am not even sure they can see these results.

As for how long it takes to get the results, it may be that the radiologist may not have produced their reports in time for last week's MDT, making it so that they could only discuss the findings in this week's MDT, today.

An interesting point would be the question of how the scans results may or may not affect your treatment, so even if the nurse says she has no new information from the scans, this may be worth asking, as well as how did they determine that your heart was in good enough condition to withstand chemo.

  • Thank you. This is what I was thinking (The affect on treatment). On the plus side my heart seems to have coped Slight frown

  • I'm seeing Oncologist next Monday. Not had any scans at all yet. I do have heart problems already

  • Were you able to get hold of the nurse this afternoon?
