Stupid I know but a little bit of normality! I had my first round of EC on Thursday (10th) and also used the cold cap. Does anyone know if I,m ok to use the Hot Tub one last time before I have a PICC line fitted? BTW it's only me and my Husband that use it and the chemical guidance is also followed and tested. Help!

  • I believe immune system low once on chemo, so I wouldn't risk it tbh. Not worth catching infection. I'll be in same situation in a few weeks time in we have hot tub too

  • Thank you. I know how stupid a question! Good luck with your treatment

  • Morning Lisa.

  • Morning

Took the plunge........and turned it off (for a few months anyway) going to drain it tomorrow Disappointed

Good luck with your treatment. On day 4 now and really not bad at all, hope it's the same or even better for you. It can be a bit daunting to start, I took more stuff with me than I do on holiday!

  • I'm seeing Oncologist for first time Monday 21st Feb. Also nervous about having PICC line fitted etc, etc

    • Mines being done on the 22nd, I will let you know how it goes. x x
  • Due to be fitted on 28th Feb, have you had yours? Had a canula this time but took 4 attempts but due to me only having a call on Tuesday to start the chemo  on Thursday there wasn't any time to have one fitted! (Need to reach their 'targets' apparently?!

Same here back in it before you know it Relieved and as you say it's not going anywhere.......

Take care and here's to the next dip Bikini in the meantime hope the children enjoy it

    xx

  • Having mine fitted on the 28th and to be honest I think it will be better than the canula I had on Thursday especially as it was in my right hand you are a little restricted.

  • The picc line fitting is ok, it’s an odd sensation but you don’t really feel anything. For me, it felt a bit odd for a week maybe and then it was fine. It was so much better than regularly having the cannula, (I’ve had problems with the cannula insertion too)  and it’ll save your veins, etc. I can’t say I wasn’t delighted to have it out on the last treatment though! If the hospital doesn’t give you one, get a waterproof picc cover from Amazon, makes life easier. You can also get some pretty picc line covers, I bought a couple and was happy I did. Good luck x
