Hi I've had my first cycle of docetaxel (1 of 3).
I had foul explosive diarrhoea on day 5 and foul taste for a few days.
I don't know if it was infective or due to the chemo ,(and am therefore likely to get it again).
Has anyone else had these issues with docetaxel?
Thanks xxx
Hi, yep, I suffered from diarrhoea during chemo and loperamide was part of the prescription I got. There were some days I was advised to take these if I needed or not, it became a bit of a balancing act.
As for the foul taste, for me that lasted about 10 days each cycle. It's particularly frustrating, isn't it.
Yep. I had four rounds of Docetaxel, each with bowel upsets. Three out of the four were constipation, one was diarrhoea. Take whatever your nurses give you for the diarrhoea - it should help. Just concentrate on staying hydrated and eating what you can. The horrible taste is normal too I'm afraid but it will get better. All the best
Hi yes I had 1/6 TCHP about to do the 2/6 on Wednesday. I had to foul taste in my mouth and diarrhoea on day 6-12! I found sipping blackcurrant squash (in a glass with a straw) helped me hydrate I couldn’t drink water on its own as tasted awful. I also found boiled fruit sweets, the travel in a tin type, helped me. I took loperamide for the diarrhoea which helped control it. I reacted to the Docetaxel and it gave me abdominal cramps so didn’t get my GI tract off to a good start! I bought a microwave heat pad to help soothe my sore tummy! Good luck and hope this helps too X
I am on day 6 of docetaxel and thankfully day 5 didn’t bring me that! I was the other way but took laxatives. I have very sore teeth though! So random but aching! My nausea seems to have eased off but I’m just waiting for what’s next! Just feeling blah! I’ve been trying to drink lots of fluids whatever I feel like and eating little and often. Good luck it’s not easy x
Jane
