Hello
Tomorrow is the day I have my staples out and also find out what they found from my mastectomy and node clearence. I am so scared about this and am not sure what results I am going to be given. Can any one tell me more who has been through this about what usually happens and what they find?
I had a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy, but in my follow up operation after surgery they notified me whether they had got clear margins (this isn't applicable to you as you had your whole breast removed). They then gave results of whether there were any stray cells in the sentinel lymph nodes and they also knew exactly what the breast cancer size was / all results of type (which they would have had a good idea of from biopsies prior). They'll naturally check how you are healing as well.
I hope this helps a little, but hopefully someone else who had a mastectomy will be able to provide any more information (if there's anything else specific to mastectomies).
Kindest Wishes,
Lesley
Hopefully by now you've had your appt and hope it went well
I had my appt last week. I was told the findings. I had 7 tumours in total and of all the nodes taken there was only one positive one which was the one we knew about. I was told my stage which is stage 2 T2N1.
Hope this helps.
Hey thank you so much for your reply. My appt is at 2pm feel sick. If you don't mind me asking have they given you a plan going forward now as well? I am so pleased that your results were positive xx
