Hi I've got all my results from surgery the only thing I don't understand is hormone numbers.

I'm hormone receptive positive-  it's got ER 7 & PR 4 ? Not sure what this means ?

I'm ki67 10% my understanding is that's low

 I'm HG 3 IDC, / DICS Stage 1.

My understanding is that I'm early stage cancer, that has now been removed, so it's gone I was told by my consultant & oncologist.

Just need the treatment.

  • ER stand for Oestrogen Receptors, American spelling Estrogen. PR is same for Progesteron. Both are hormones. From the numbers you quote, this cancer can benefit from treatment that would involve dealing with these hormones as part of the effort to block the cancer.

Ki67 is used to estimate how many cancer cells are currently active. Less than 10% is considered low.

HG is the result of them sub-typing the cancer.

All of these put together would give the doctors the picture they need in deciding the best treatment plan for the patient.

No one outside medical circles is expected to know all of these scales and abbreviations, but they forward us these reports without providing any glossaries or explanations. I once contemplated taking revenge by bringing in some sheet music of something advanced and seeing how they get on deciphering that. Slight smile

  • Hi,

GreyCats answered your question regarding Hormones in your BC. What treatment are they looking at?

  • Hormone therapy, / radiotherapy , possible chemo depending on my score from test, I'm 36 , I'm prob going to phone up Monday and ask ,

  • Have you had oncotype DX test

  • In the process of waiting  for results

  • I had my results from the same 4 days ago. Apparently about 80% of 'indeterminate' BC's that are sent for DX testing have a low score between 0-25 which means no chemo. A score of 26-100 will indicate that chemo is advised. I was hopeful.... but unfortunately mine scored 35 so now I'm in the process of preparing for chemo. Your results should take 2wks to arrive. Hoping the best for you. Xx

  • Do we all get the Oncotest or have to request it?

  • My surgeon said she was going to test me, Im not sure who is eligible for it,they send  off cancerous lump to America.Im  not sure if it can be requested,

    1. Not everyone Gander. You have to meet certain criteria before it is offered. Must be Clear lymph nodes, ER pos, HER neg, early stage and less than 2cm...... Not sure if there is anything else though. Its an expensive test but has saved a lot of money on chemo and saved many women from such an aggressive treatment.
  • This was my results, tho I think I was at 2cm. Could be why Im having it tested, as they said they don't want to undertreat me but want to make sure I'm getting right treatment.
