Recently diagnosed with TNBC grade 3.  Waiting for chemotherapy to start maybe next week. Feeling happy, positive then sad and so angry. If I had a punch bag I'd use it. Any advice would be helpful.Purple heart Thought about trying meditation.  Any one know of good sites or apps? Thank you Purple heart

  • Our children (both experience(d) differing forms of blood cancers, use Calm, with pretty good effect, they say.

i have used self guided relaxation over the last week or so (used to run relaxation classes as a part of my Occupational Therapy treatments in a Day Hospital) as I’ve decided to stop using Amitriptyline. It has helped, as has a lavender spray on my pillow!

    Best wishes

  • However, bear in mind that the stage you’re at is totally and utterly normal, it’s just horrible, but getting respite from it to be able to sleep is important. Keep posting!

  • Hello, yes I used the Aura app and still do. I did simple meditation to help with sleep and a bit of guided visualisation. Nothing longer than 15 minutes and found it really helped me remain positive and calm, the breathing and focusing on it is quite powerful.
Hope you find something that helps and don’t worry about if you are doing it right, just go with the flow and see if it helps you xx

  • Hi, I used to use Headspace a lot when I travelled for work as it helped me sleep in different hotels.

  • Hi Pinklady25, Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I totally agree with Moomy, everything you're feeling is totally normal. Most important thing is to be kind to yourself right now and recognise all your feelings are valid, something I learnt with hindsight ( finished radiotherapy on 11th Jan!)  It's amazing that you're looking into ways to help yourself.

I used to have a regular mediation practice a few years ago ,which really helped to calm me and I've been looking at starting up again.  I'm about to start an online 28 day meditation challenge ( starts today but enrolment has been extended) with a wonderful meditation teacher called Sharon Salzberg, who has been a teacher since the 70's. Here's the link if you or anyone else is interested. She is charging on a sliding scale, starting with FREE right up to hundreds of dollars, all based on what you can afford which I think is amazing! Hope it's of use .https://www.sharonsalzberg.com/rh-challenge-2022

    All the best to you

Thank you I will have a look at that app.  I have terrible patience with some of these apps and have tried Simple Habit and Headspace before.  Was also thinking Reiki or Yoga.  ? Or perhaps that migGrinning be too much when chemo starts. Thanks Grinning x
