I have just started Chemo for my Breast Cancer and I am so tired. I just want to curl up in bed and sleep.  I have been looking at recipe books, but hey all seem so time consuming and to be honest, I am getting more tired just thinking of making them.  Any suggestions.  Thank you x

    • Hello JoDo72. I was also really tired  throughout my 6 months of chemo and still am, almost 2 months after it ended. Your body & mind are put through a lot during treatment and my oncologist advised resting as much as I needed to as it's the one side effect they can't offer any remedy for. I make myself go for a walk every day but other than that have been taking it easy, pottering about, doing some reading and sleeping when I need to. You are likely to feel more tired the more chemo you have so listen to your body and don't worry about baking if you don't feel up to it x
  • Thanks LalaLou,  It's all very new.  I started Chemo 2 days ago and I also read that if you need to lie down, then do so.  I think the boredom of not being able to work etc is also playing a part.

  • started mine Wed, feel so lethargic and headachey to be expected but my main problem is I CANT sleep not a blooming wink. I have eye bags under eye bags ...rough going isn't it x

  • The fatigue is the worst, best thing you can do is just give in to it and rest. I have felt very guilty at times doing nothing but gave myself a talking to and reminded myself that my body was going through a lot.

  • Hi, my oncologist recommended trying to take a walk every day, even when I felt very tired. Mostly I managed this. Even if it was only 10 mins, and to be honest I did find that getting outside for some exercise helped me feel less tired.  Good luck, I hope the fatigue passes soon

  • Yes, I totally agree.  Luckily, my mum is staying with me to help out with my son.  But I do feel guilty she is doing so much, even though she wouldn't have it any other way.  I am so blessed to have an amazing family and friends who support me, but knowing it's going to potentially get worse is overwhelming sometimes.

  • Luckily, I am able to sleep, but I am up every 30mins to go to the toilet.

  • Yes, I have also been recommended to do that.  I will try and muster the will power.  I didn't think it would come on this quickly to be honest. x

  • This may seem like strange advice , force yourself to do some physical it makes body function better. For example when I felt tired I went for a walk not long and without fail I felt better at end of walk and I slept properly so gradually became less tired.
tey porridge as it lasts a while in your body and add fruit for vitamins

  • Thank you so much.  Will definitely look in to the tey porridge.  I have been doing myself fruit smoothies and my husband make a mean vegetable and bean soup.  I have found that also helps.
