I had WLE with LICAP flap on 28/10/2021 and finished 5 days RT 2 weeks ago. I have now developed a hard lump in my boob where my previous lump was.
Sensible head says it must be scar tissue or side effects of RT.
Panicking head says OMG! it's back!
Should I be worried? Thinking maybe call BCN on Monday but I know how busy they are and if nothing to be concerned about I don't want to call then unnecessarily.
Your thoughts please?
Hi Fleurete I would imagine that it's the scar tissue and how it's been affected by the radiotherapy. Radiotherapy caused pains in the affected breast for me and tougher/thicker internal scaring along my surgery lines. The breast also feel completely different to my other one. It's been a year since my surgery and the pains have only now significantly reduced and I could be imagine it but the scars seem a little softer too.
We all react differently so it could be that that is how radiotherapy has affected you.
Having said all that I would still let your medical team know about it and if you can I would try and get them to examine you too. It's better to be safe than sorry however small the likelihood that it's cancer. You will take up far less of their time catching something early than you will if you leave it and it turns into something much bigger to deal with.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
