Does anyone know what vitamins I can take I have had breast cancer and I’m now on Anastrazole.

  • Hi I take vitamin b complete with vit c, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D3 and now calcium, I’m on letrozole, my Oncologist said they were fine, but maybe check with your Oncologist or the Pharmacist.

  • Hi

I am taking letrozole and the twice daily vitamin d and calcium tablets prescribed by the surgeon.

I've read about the benefits of certain supplements and vitamins. Hearing about recommendations given by oncologists is really helpful.

Is there a validated list of vitamins and supplements it's ok to take while being treated for breast cancer and beyond.

Or even a list of supplements to avoid

I've heard conflicting views on turmeric with black pepper for example.

I know diet is the best way but sometimes my diet takes a bit of a holiday

  • I take a low-dose liquid multi-vitamin. The low dose is designed to make sure that while I do get the boost, I don't overdo it. The liquid form is because these days, swallowing pills can be tricky.

Since this is on my own initiative rather than prescribed, I made sure to let my oncologist know and check with him that this was ok.

  • I'm on Anastrozole. I always used to take viamin D3, but had a dexa scan for bone density and as I have slightly thinning bones, I'm now on Adcal D3 and Alendronic acid via prescription. I would say if you haven't been prescribed anything, then look at calcium and D3 vitamins which help strengthen bones. Hope this helps.
