Hi,
I got my results yesterday.
I did have grade 2 , but it changed to grade 3 after my sentinel node biopsy
The lymps are clear .
I've been told I'm early grade 3, stage 1a.
I'm so in daze none of it seems real.
Got told that in the margins they found pre Cancer cells when they took out my 10- mm lump , that the lump did I'm fact increase in size,2 cm.
But due to where the lump was the surgeon can not take any more tissue out as their is none ,as where the pre cancer cells are are In the side where there was no more tissue to take out.
I asked if I had cancer in me she said she took it all out.
I'm confused, anxious.
Being told my cancer is out of me after surgery , why do I still feel like it not been.
My margins were not clear but yet at same time there was no more tissue to take out.
I'm being tested to see if chemo us needed ,but radiotherapy/ hormone therapy is a definite.
I'm only 36 so I'm guessing I will menapausal before I'm 40 , I don't have children so this is just all to much to take in.
I did decide that children was not an option due to my history if depression , my current PTSD, but there was a chance I could of got pregnant ,But there will be no chance now ,I realize that mayb I wasn't 100 in against having children as I'm so upset by it.
Big hugs.
It's always so much to take in at each appt but I think what she is saying is that the cancer is out however there are some of the pre cancer cells found in the margin and these have been removed but you've not a clear margin but subsequent treatments should mop those up and hopefully prevent a recurrence.
I'm at a similar stage in treatment as you. I get my results next week and I'm nervous as I know there is lymph involvement.
Definitely speak to your bcn about fertility, options etc regarding egg harvesting, preservation.
Me too. Lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed last week. Results next Thursday. Pretty scared about what they might say. Been told Grade 2, 1.5cm, invasive, HER2+. Hoping for clear margins and not in lymph nodes. If there is a god, he really needs to help us all.
Hi,
I'm new here but thought I would share my experience so far.
I'm 46 was diagnosed with IDC grade 2 end of November 21 and scans showed that lymph nodes looked normal. Was told surgery followed by radiotherapy and hormone therapy. Had lumpectomy 6th January with LD flap reconstruction and got results this week. Margins were clear but cancer found in 1 node so plan has now changed. Chemo, node clearance, radio then hormone therapy. Still trying to get my head around it all and very anxious about chemo. It really helps to have somewhere to share my concerns and speak to people who have been where I am. Much love to all of you.

It is really daunting and I'm just taking things a day at a time. My oncology appointment is on 8th February so just focusing on getting to that, one step at a time.
I'm going to return to work on restricted duties until my chemo starts as I think this will help me. Unfortunately due to my work environment being considered high risk for infection I won't be able to continue once chemo begins.
Here's to getting through things the best way we know how.

Hi sounds really similar to me. My area removed with a clear cavity shave, so clear margins, was grade 2, 2cm, I was told 1cm originally, my lymph nodes was clear. I am her2 positive. I had a theraputic mammoplasty with breast reduction on other side, I am currently having chemo and herceptin for being her2 positive. I was told they could not get clear margins on precancerous cells, but chemo first, then when that finishes I will be looking at another surgery, most likely masectomy with immediate reconstruction, I can carry on with my herceptin while I have my surgery. I am not sure if having radiotherapy yet, my precancerous cells was intermediate grade not high grade. From what you have said it sounds like they got clear margins on your breast lump but not your precancerous cells. What surgery have you had. Best wishes xxx
Hi, few people asked what surgery I had, it was sentinel node biopsy.
Few people mentioned about fertility treatment.
How do I organise fertility treatment.?
Ive got a wait about 3-4 weeks until I start chemo,if it's suitable then it's radiotherapy & then 10 years of tamixafen.
I'm 36 already
I'm hormone receptive but Hertz 2 negative.
Hi Etna, there are various options that might be available to you regarding fertility and you will need to discuss this with your medical team. Maybe start with a call to your breast nurse if you have one? You might find this Macmillan fact sheet helpful too as it covers options available and also includes a list of questions to ask your medical team:

Hi, yeah I will phone up tomorrow. My worry is it's too late, I was told to come off my contraception as it could have caused my cancer to progress quicker, I read that you need hormone injections, if not they take it without but get less, & that my chemo if I have it is due to start in about a month.
I doubt I can hormone injections if I can't take a pill.
And what are you supposed to do if your on hormone therapy , I will be menapausal. How would I get pregnant, would the hormone cause me to get cancer again,?
I know I definitely need help with all this ,
