Letrozole - struggling

I was diagnosed In May 2021 with breast cancer, had a lumpectomy and nodes removal in June, I had a course of radiotherapy but to be honest I am really struggling. My breast has been red sore and very hot for 4 months, 3 lots of antibiotics later and still no better. I am also having side effects from the letrozole including hot sweats day and night, sore joints and my hands are so swollen and sore i have had to take my wedding ring off. My shoulders are so sore I am not sleeping. I feel like I have aged 20 years. Just don't know where to turn next.

Hi. I'm so sorry you are having such a terrible time. I can't help much with the post radiotherapy problems as I've not started yet. I've seen recent posts from ladies who have had side effects from radiotherapy, so I'm sure someone will be able to support you.

For letrozole I'd definitely speak to your gp or bcn.You shouldn't have to suffer. Changing brands may help as it seems as though the fillers differ from brand to brand and its these that can contribute to side effects.

I was put on Letrozole November 2018 after Mastectomy no real side affects at first but bone pain in hands and feet seemed to be getting worse..when I saw Oncologist in August 21 she changed it to Exemestane..I still have bone pain but it is not getting worse each day as it was on Letrozole. Talk to nurse or Oncologist about it.
