Had breast cancer three years ago, jad a lumpectomy, had a mamogram wed got called Thursday they have found
sonething suspicious, got to have another mamogram Monday and ultrasound sound. Feeing very worried still on tamoxifen same breast could
it come back that quickly
Hi when you have had cancer the doctors tend to be over cautious and check things they would not normally check - just to be sure. I had a thyroid ultrasound that I was told they only did because I had had breast cancer. If I hadn't had breast cancer they would have waited a few weeks to see if my thyroid issue resolved itself which they expected it would, and it did.
Then on my one year check up for breast cancer they spotted something suspicious which they felt confident would be nothing but they tried to biopsy it anyway. They tried twice and both times were unsuccessful because the area was so small. So now they are just waiting and monitoring. Again I was told had I not already had breast cancer they would not have done a biopsy.
The point I'm trying to make is that yes although it could be cancer again it could also be just that they are being over cautious because of your cancer history and they are investigating things they would not do in a person who has never had cancer. It doesn't make the waiting for results any easier unfortunately.
On the plus side I do feel like we are taken more seriously and I feel comforted knowing that they investigate areas of concern when in others they would not. So if cancer does come back I feel that it will be caught really early.
Wishing you all the best with the biopsy results, hope it turns out to be nothing.
Sorry to hear that . As you say, thankfully it was caught early. Let us know how you get on.
I'd be curious to know if it was hormone positive again given you are still taking tamoxifen.
Sending hugs x
Yes I thought tamoxifen would keep it all at bay hate taking it makes me feel awful with hot sweats aches etc, already done chemo, radio herceotin really don’t fancy it again hoping as caught early won’t be as bad
hope you’re on the road to recovery, get cream called centraban was great through my radio xxx
I can't imagine having to go through it all again but then I couldn't imagine going through it all the first time either. But once treatment starts you get swept along with it all and then it's soon over. Hope your treatment starts soon and goes well. xx
