Hi. I fit the criteria for participation in the Optima /Prosigna test No Chemo trial. I'm 99% decided I won't have chemo, as in my circumstance the risks outweigh the benefits.
Just wondered how others may of come to the same decision?
I haven't, but if I had to weigh the options I would look, as you are, at risks vs benefits but also at side effects, both long and short term. I would also speak to my oncologist and get their views, both for and against. Since in your case chemo is off the table then it is not a choice between the two, it is a question of weather or not participating in the trial raises your chances of a good long-term outcome vs the risks of long term effects. In my view, taking on short term effects is worth it if the long term outcome seems to justify it, but this would be a personal choice for each of us.
