Hi has anyone else been contacted about having the new antiviral treatment if they get covid? I've been sent PCR test to do at home if I have symptoms and if positive to contact GP.. The treatment has to given quickly to be effective.

I finished chemotherapy in December and was hoping I could worry less about covid but now am nervous again that covid might make me very poorly.

  • Hello and welcome, though sad you’ve needed to post.

no you’re not the only one, our daughter has too. Mind you, it’s a completely different cancer (she’s been in remission since 2011 but needs immunoglobulin weekly to stay well as her immune system has been badly damaged by almost 10 years of treatment), a blood cancer, it’s on my profile.

She is a freelance musician and is extremely Covid- vulnerable but does need to work. Fortunately her various employers have been understanding and she also has her own small studio at home so works quite a bit from there.

I suspect we will all worry till this virus mutates to a much more harmless level. But do keep posting, it helps.

    Hugs xxx

  • Thanks Moomy...hugs to your daughter too.

  • Yes, I received one a few weeks ago, I’ve put it in a safe place and hopefully I’ll never need it! I’m recuperating atm from a surgery that had to be put on hold due to my cancer diagnosis. Fingers crossed for a better year for all.

    Best wishes x

  • Yes I got one too. First an email and then got sent a PCR test just in case x

  • Hi, I received one last week. I had chemotherapy from January to June 21 but had first and second vaccine during this time so protection against Covid is probably not so effective. It's good to know that there are now some treatments to help if needed but I still worry about being really ill if I contract Covid.

    Take care x
