Auxiliary clearance

My auxiliary clearance was just over a month ago and although the seroma drained , I am left with a fairly sizeable hardened area under the scar , it’s very uncomfortable and feels like Iv got a small bock of wood under my arm . Does anyone know if this is normal or have experienced anything similar . I mentioned it in a phone conversation with my breast care nurse and she didn’t seem concerned.

  • I had the same about a week ago (auxiliary clearance 30th November) following seromas which needed draining regularly. My breast cancer care nurse also not concerned, explaining that as healing contiues, seroma starts to harden like a gel until the body starts to reabsorb it. It should start to reduce/soften as the body absorbs and disposes of it naturally, as mine thankfully now has, but she did say to give it a few days.  If it's still hard after 5 days, get back in touch with your breast cancer care nurse.

    Good luck Hugging

  • Thankyou so much for your reply Brainybunch, I wish my nurse had explained it to me as yours did .

I will give it a while longer and see how it goes . Hopefully like you said it will soften and resolve .
