Hi. I am starting Radiotherapy next week. I have a 5 year old son who we have taken out of school until I start treatment as I'm so paranoid that we will get Covid and they will postpone it. If I was to test positive once treatment starts, does anyone know if they would stop it then or keep going? It's keeping me up at night worrying about it as I just want this done! X

  • As I understand it once you have started treatment  if you test positive for covid your radiotherapy treatment continues but they change your appointment to last thing at night so you are not in contact with so many people and they can deep clean the room.

Of course departments may differ so maybe a question for the radiographers on your first day x

  • Thank you. It's such a nightmare! My son's class reported 3 positive cases today so we've taken him out of school but he can't stay off for the 5 weeks I'm having treatment! X

  • I started radiotherapy on Tuesday and was told that should I catch Covid it would NOT stop my treatment. They would probably change my appointment times to the last appointment of the day but treatment would continue. GOOD LUCK!

  • Hi

I had radiotherapy last September and my daughter who lives with us tested positive for Covid before I began treatment. I was negative and she isolated in her bedroom. I checked with RT team and they let me go ahead but I  the had to wait outside in my car until they took me in round the back.  The RT nurses were all suited up.  As soon as daughter was out of isolation I was allowed in the front entance Grin. Good luck with everything xx
