Hi im meeting my oncologist on weds is there anything I need to ask please any information that I may need to get mybhead round ive been told I'll be starting chemo at the end of the Jan xx
My experience of the first meeting with oncologist was excellent, but be warned that you get an enormous amount of information. I found that I didn't need to ask a huge amount of questions as she covered pretty much everything I would want to know.
I would highly recommend taking a notepad to write everything down, I couldn't have possible remembered everything she told me.
I was helpfully give a few booklets to take away on the treatment I would be given, and I was also asked to sign the consent forms for chemo.
i was asked to make a decision on which hormone treatment to go down as I was pre-menopausal, but she gave me lots of info for an informed decision (I only really wanted to know which had the better outcomes).
Good luck, in my experience, oncology look after you very well.

I'd be wanting to have answers to the following questions:
1. Exactly what type of cancer is it?
2. What grade?
3. What are my treatment options?
4. How long is the entire course of treatment expected to take?
5. What are the side effects and risks of this treatment?
6. By when do I need to make a decision?
7. Where will I be having this treatment?
8. How often will I be having this treatment?
9. How long is each treatment sessino and what is involved?
10. Is there anything else I need to know?
These are just off the cuff for now. If I think of anything else before Wednesday I will post here again.
