Struggling

I had a second round of biopsies last week on another site in the breast that we know has cancer and in three sites within the other breast. Waiting for results is so hard and I'm struggling to funcion normally. One strange thing is I'm really reluctant to touch my breasts even to wash....is thus a thing??! I know I'll feel 'better' when I have a treatment plan but in the meantime it's so hard!! Disappointed

  • The waiting was the absolute worst part for me, and it's not just biopsies, they have so many diagnostic tools that you may need further scans etc. But with each new piece of info, you know more and more what you're dealing with and you MDT is able to tailor your treatment to give you the best possible outcome.

There is nothing anyone can say to make the waiting better other than to know we have all been through it too and felt just as awful.

I went through a phase of not touching my breast after my biopsy too - my lump increased in size from the biopsy (apparently common) and I didn't want to feel it any more! I had chemo before surgery and it was good to start feeling it reducing in size.

Try and keep yourself as occupied as possible - easier said than done I know!

  • We can all remember how that feels, so sorry, you are not alone, hang in there.  Love from Ann

Hello Ukulele lady, sorry to hear that you are struggling. We know how you feel and it can be difficult to wait for results. I too was reluctant to look at my breast after my lumpectomy,  since then i have had a mastectomy. My advice would be to lean on friends and family and to keep busy if you can. Sending you a virtual hug and hoping you have your treatment plan soon. X
