So on December 23rd, my NHS surgeon and I parted company. I was fed up with him lying to me about the options available to me so that I would agree to his plan. He told me that IORT would 'fry my breast' and that radiotherapy would not kill the cancer cells in my lymph nodes. I sought out a private oncologist who put me right on the last one. I also got all my tests and reports using the GDPR rules. I had biopsies on my breast tumour and two suspicious lymph nodes on 17th November. The MDT meeting on 25th November confirmed that I had breast cancer but I wasn't told till December 6th. You all know how awful the waiting is, and I could have known my diagnosis nearly 2 weeks before I was told. So now I have an appointment with a private breast surgeon in the new year and am keeping my fingers crossed that he will at least give me all the options available to me. I am anxious that I have therefore abandoned my surgery date of 21st January but I no longer trusted my surgeon so I am sure that I was right to find another one.
