Hello. Is anyone able to advise me on a comfortable bra for after my surgery please? I have tried Macom's Signature Bra and Marks & Spencer's Flexifit Post Surgery Full Cup Bra. Neither are comfortable for me and I don't know where else to try. I have my surgery on 20 DEC so there's not a lot of time. Thanks in advance for any advice x
Hi, I've just collected a selection from asda's George, click and collect. I need to try some on again, but I think I'll be keeping some. From another reply it may be worth me keeping both sizes of any I like too. Only just been told I need surgery, a mastectomy, so only just started looking.
Best of luck x
Hi.
A local charity allows our breast cancer service to provide ladies with a post surgery bra.
So I was supplied with an Amoena bra, style Francis. It's a front fastening soft cotton bra, with pockets if needed. It comes in a variety of colours and was so comfy that I bought a second one.
Not particularly glamorous but I've found it comfortable to sleep in and supportive.. I've had a lump removed from the right breast with a couple of lymph nodes followed by a mamoplasty. The bra straps are soft and its comfortable under the arm where t have some stitches.
I purchased my second bra on-line. Delivery was 5 days from memory.
Best wishes
X
I tried several bras after surgery but found most were quite uncomfortable for a while so thanks to the magic of working on Zoom managed to go without for quite a while. I had post mastectomy bras from M&S and used these when necessary with my softie (for when appearances were important) but chose to wait till after chemo and radiotherapy to be fitted for my proper prosthesis. I was an occasional bra user for six months whilst waiting for my scar to settle down before switching to sports bras. I’ve since been fitted for my proper prosthesis and discovered I can finally wear normal underwired bras again. Not only do I find this more comfortable but it has the added benefit of anchoring itself around the remaining breast which stops everything travelling over to one side. I have also invested in a Nicola Jane exercise prosthesis for running and swimming.
Thank you for your comments. I'm surprised how uncomfy the 2 brands I have tried so far are.. and that's before surgery. Itchy labels and rough edges. I've been told I need to bring one to hospital with me so hoping the ones I've ordered will be an improvement. All.my regular bras have underwire so no good, or tight fitting sports bras that must go over your head x
I hear you! Due to my reconstruction I need to wear a firm bra 24/7 for at least 8 weeks. I’ve got permanent sores along my breast crease from doing so. I mostly wear my Royce Silver post surgical bra, which is comfortable but not that supportive, or a high impact sports bra I bought from Next. I used to be a 36/38 D, but currently most comfortable in a 40B. Someone needs to invent a high impact bra with no seems or labels and a cushioned under breast band.
My bra woes are exacerbated by a skeletal difference called pectus carinatum, which means my ribs bow out from under my breasts and I’m wider beneath my breasts than above. So no bra band lies flat, but instead curls up.
