Hi, I had my expandable implant fitted at the same time as my mastectomy 17 days ago. I’ve currently got a lot of stinging pain around the valve and where my lymph nodes were removed. Everything looks fine but I can feel the implant moving about inside sometimes and it’s an odd feeling, and one of the edges is poking under the skin where I can feel it. Is this normal? Will it feel more secure once it’s inflated or is it misplaced somehow? I’ve followed all the rules about bra wearing etc. The hospital only seemed to be worried about infection at this stage so I’m assuming any misplacement is fixable.
I think you need to call the breast nurses and cagey yourself checked out, I can’t say if this is normal or not but if it’s changed significantly and I’d causing you concern then definitely contact them to put your mind at rest x
They’re seeing me tomorrow. I’m assured if there is something wrong with the implant they’ll get me in plastics tomorrow. The BCN suggested it might be a seroma causing the plastic edges of the deflated implant to bob about, in which case they’ll drain it. I also received a new sports bra in the post - it’s a size up from my regular size so fits much better. I’m pretty swollen. I’m just so jumpy at the moment
Totally understandable, really pleased they can see you so quickly x
