Hello!
has anyone had any lymph node involvement but no axillary clearance/ chemo.
2/6 nodes are positive- had mastectomy. Will be having radiotherapy and hormone therapy.
initially it was suggested axillary clearance is not needed, but spoke to oncologist and they said it’s up to us. Said they will do radiotherapy on axilla, but not the neck/shoulder. Said it’s highly unlikely other nodes have been affected but it’s up to us as radiotherapy would not be given to the neck region. She did say the hormone medication will kill the stray cancer cells so confused!
Hi, my first ultrasound didn't show any lymph node abnormality but on MRI scan there was suspicious lymph nodes so had them biopsied and they are positive. Having mastectomy and axillary clearance on Friday. It wasn't a decision I made, the consultant told me what she was doing x
I had the usual mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma with dcis diagnosed but needed MRI as unsure of the actual size of cancer. The MRI picked up more suspicious areas in breast and lymph nodes. Told yesterday breast is pre-cancerous and lymph nodes positive. Consultant advised mastectomy and axillary clearance and said I would need chemo, radio and hormone tablets and said she will refer me for CT scan and Bone scan x
Hi, I had 1 out of 3 nodes that was positive but no clearance or chemo, just radiotherapy and now tamoxifen for 5 years. My team also told me it was unlikely other nodes would be affected and that if they were the radiotherapy and tamoxifen would be enough to get rid of it. I hope they're right!
Thank you for your message. Was it 1/3 sentinel nodes? Or axillary nodes were taken too?
it’s worrying isn’t it. Just don’t know what to choose what direction to go. Have you had the radiotherapy?
Hi, they were sentinel nodes. It is worrying but I'm trying hard to remind myself that they are the experts, and with the multi disciplinary team discussing and agreeing treatment at every stage I guess it's not just one person's decision.
Reading your post I'm actually quite glad they made the decision for me!
Yes I finished my radiotherapy 5 weeks ago now.
