So! As is well discussed on here, food on docetaxel is disgusting. There are things that I don’t think I’ll ever eat again so gross have they become, sausages being the latest!! Sob My question is this, is there anything that isn’t totally disgusting in peoples genuine experience not necessarily what they’ve read? So far I’ve found sorbet lollies aren’t too bad but I can’t survive on those, anything else? Shrug tone1Rofl

  • See cucumber is horrible to me atm! And fresh tomatoes Nauseated face I loved it before, and my mouth is too sore for boiled sweets, but thanks, the hunt continues……

  • Bananas never lost their taste to me, aso tried the odd curry which helped.

  • Food - yes strange tastes. I never really liked spicy or strong foods yet could now live on a mild, fruity curry or blue  cheese on salted crackers. As for anything sweet, it taste disgusting. Melon is good but my once staple diet of salmon and yoghurt now taste yuk!!
Keep experimenting and you may find foods you didn’t like before are now palatable. My friend was the same - anything sweet was a no no.
On the sore mouth, have you tried sucking on ice cubes during your infusion of Docetaxol? My oncology unit give them to me and my mouth, up to now, hasn’t  been too bad. A few sores and a sore throat but I could still eat.
Good luck as you really need to keep your food intake up. Four leaf clover

  • Thanks, I do find bananas aren’t tooooo bad and I’ll try a curry x

  • Ok I’ll try blue cheese then cause I didn’t like that before and that might’ve changed. I put on weight on EC but like you anything sweet atm is horrible and I normally love chocolate but I can’t stand it atm x

my mouth also went horrible on docataxel, it was as if my tongue and gums dried out.. i found that very very cold sparklig water was the right kind of bitterness to counteract this.I usuallu have a sweet tooth but could not manage anything sweet at all ( apart from sucking on mint imperials to take the horrible taste away in my mouth ). I could manage to eat quite bland stidgy food like macaroni cheese or carbonara.

  • Hi

I found tomato soup always tasted ok . Spicy tomato pasta was good to me too. Pineapples were good too. We bought inexpensive frozen meals to try , if it was disgusting it got binned , if tasty then I ate for a week ! Once tried chicken and sweetcorn soup followed by banana fritters syrup and ice cream from my local Chinese that we have used for years and it was great - hubby bought me every night for a week then tastebuds changed !!! What’s good one day/week might not be good the next .
you must drink plenty - water / dilute juice is the way forward , even 3 years later if I feel fatigued - a big glass of water really helps .

hope you find tasty bites . It doesn’t last for ever honest .

  • Thank you! I’ll get shopping later x

  • Hi

i remember eating a lot of cereals and bland food. Totally went off spicy food which I used to love.

Try drinking pineapple juice or eating pineapple there is a certain enzyme that helps. Dry mouth pastilles which really helped to clear my horrible tongue and inflamed mouth eg Salivix Plus and also a toothpaste called Biotene. Wish I had found these pastilles sooner as they really did help me but I was due my last cycle of docetaxal when I heard about them. Used them day and night when my tongue was really yucky. My oncologist kept recommending manuka honey but I don’t like honey so didn’t try it.  He said to coat your tongue and mouth with it or suck on a spoon of it. Good luck!
