Good Evening everybody,
I hope you are all as well as you can be. I was just looking to see if anybody has had a similar experience to me? I had a bone scan just short of three weeks ago as I was experiencing a sensation of pressure in my left hip. I hadn’t heard anything so assumed all was well then I phoned to see if there was an update. An Oncologist phoned me back and said that the scan showed “increased activity” in my lower lumber region. I have to go for an urgent MRI scan to see what it is. I have been told it could be a sign of bone mets or it could be something else. I have a four year old who means everything to me. I am absolutely terrified and hate having to wait, yet again for more tests. I haven’t been given a timescale for the MRI just that I should hear something in the next few weeks as has been marked as urgent. I don’t know what to do with myself and not sure how I will sleep for the next few weeks. We feel exhausted already as a family with everything we have been through so far.
Warm hugs to everybody on here.

Hello Bekky
I'm sorry you haven't had a reply yet, but I guess it's because it's such a sad post to read and difficult to know what to say.
I'm so sorry too that you are having to go through this, such an awful time for you. I sincerely hope that it turns out to be 'something else' and nothing at all to do with cancer. Everyone knows how awful the waiting is for results, let alone having to also wait for your urgent MRI scan, no wonder you and your family are exhausted. I just hope the MRI scan is as soon as possible, as too the results and that it turns out to nothing to worry about.
Thinking of you and kindest wishes, Lesley
Hi Bekky I’m so sorry you are going through this worrying time. Slightly different to you but After I was diagnosed with cancer in my right breast I had a routine breast mri, they then said they were worried about an ‘enhancement’ in my left breast so I had to wait for an appointment for an ultrasound on that breast. It’s scary to think that it could be in more than one place. Luckily the enhancement was nothing. I really hope that you’re bone activity is nothing. I’m sure there are plenty of things that it could be. At my hospital when they ask for an mri I usually get a call a few days later to book it, I hope it comes quick for you. Or if you can find a number for the mri department you could always call them and try to book it. I read about a lady at the beginning of her treatment who had to get all the various scans done so she rang around every department herself and got them all within a week so deffo worth a try!
let me know how you get on xx
Thank you lesleyhelen and pumpkinpie2002. I really appreciate your replies. I have been told that it can be a whole host of things but, am preparing myself for the worst. Your kind words mean so much to me. I will keep you posted on how things go.

Pumpkinpie2002,
I phoned the hospital directly to the MRI department and they said that they will try and fit me in next week as they have had a couple of cancellations. Thank you so much for your help.

Ladies,
I hope you are all well? I wanted to provide an update to you all and for anybody who may search for this finding themselves in a similar situation to me. My MRI found no evidence of cancer in my spine. Haven’t had an explanation for why the bone scan picked something up but MRI didn’t. It feels like I had to wait a lifetime between the news and the result but I wanted to let you ladies know.
The lovely ladies on the Secondary Breast Cancer chat room have been amazing too.
Thank you for all your support.
Love and hugs,
Bekky

Hi Bekky
I am so pleased that you have had this good news. Just as well tho that you were checked out for spine problems when something showed on your bone scan. However, so good that it was not cancer.
You will have had a big sigh of relief!
Great to hear that every raised suspicion does not turn out to be something nasty.
Enjoy your Sunday with your family
Wishing you all the best and a big virtual hug after all your extra worry.

Thank you both so much. That is exactly why I wanted to update as I would imagine that there would be a lot of ladies and gentlemen out there who would immediately assume things but it just goes to show that you can’t. I Googled and had pretty much made my mind up as to the direction I was going just picking up on the tone of phone calls etc. Just for everybody out there waiting for scans/results, a massive hug from me.
