Hi there,

Having  passed the five year all clear anniversary after my breast cancer in 2016, I’ve decided to have some lipofilling to help with the shape and appearance on my left boob. I’ve put it off as I was not wishing for more surgeries but I’ve geared  myself up this time and I’m ready to get it done.
Can anyone tell me how debilitating it might be and for how long I might be sore and uncomfortable? The surgeon might take the fat from my flank, has anyone any experience of this to share and should I wear special undergarments afterwards for a while? I’ve got a date for surgery on July 12th but no information or any contact at the hospital that  i can put these questions to.

many thanks

Sally

  • Hi Sally

I don't have any experience with lipofilling but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. This is probably because this is such an active group that it has slipped off the first page before someone with the right experience has seen it. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies if you type 'lipofilling' into the group search bar at the top of the page you'll find lots of previous posts on this topic. You could have a look through some of them and reply to any of the more recent posters if you think they could help you further.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi Sally

I am 2 years post right mastectomy and my surgeon has said that I should have lipo because I have a bit of an indentation as I lost a bit of weight and it will improve the shape.  He has put me on the list for the surgery but it will be about 6 months.  I am now having second thoughts about it.  Wondering whether it's even going to be worth the extra surgery - plus my left boob is so saggy now I feel it will just look even worse compared to the implant one!  Apparently yes we would need to wear those "pull you in" pants to give support to the abdominal area where the fat has been taken from and avoid strenuous exercise for a few weeks.  It will take about three goes to inject the fat - the first will be under general anaesthetic and the next two will be local as they have to layer the fat because it can get absorbed otherwise.  I like the idea of having fat removed from my abdomen but he has said it won't be that noticeable!  Unsure whether to go ahead or not to be honest!

    Just keep going!
