I shaved my hair after my 2nd lot of chemo. I am now on a different 12 weekly cycle of chemo and its stsrted to grow back, I only have 3 more treatments to go niw. Should I shave ut again or persevere with what is growing now?
My hair started growing back on Docetaxel, not well but I was happy to see the follicles were working
I'm now 6 weeks since my last chemo and its growing back like an old mans, all around the back and sides, not much on top
At some point it will need evening out but no way am I removing my peachy fuzzy hair atm, I enjoy stroking it too much
Hi Cupotea,
Thats really interesting. I’m 3 weeks after my first Docetaxel and feel sure my hair is starting to grow back, I was going to ask about it!
It’s very spiky just now but I’m happy to have anything happening - enjoying stroking it too!
Ruby xx
Hi, I never lost absolutely all of my hair but I did shave it prior to chemo and I lost enough that I looked completely bald. Mine started to grow in very wispy during doxetaxel and was then extremely slow to grow until about month 3 after chemo. I now have a lot of hair at month 5 - it has grown back thick and a similar color to what it was before and is a good inch or so long I didn't shave mine again and just let it grow. Once it is really growing, it doesn't look patchy any more and I actually love it that it is so soft because it has never been cut. I work from home so don't have to worry if it looks a bit rubbish as it grows through the different stages as I won't be risking going to a hairdresser any time soon with covid.
I also took this opportunity to not wash it with shampoo and I still haven't. I started using a paraben free hair mask/conditioner about twice a week a few weeks ago which is keeping it in really nice condition.
I think it's up to you whether you shave it, but I found mine has pretty much evened out now and looks pretty good considering I never would have had short hair if it wasn't for chemo!
