Hello,
I have been taking tamoxifen for only two weeks and am already struggling with feeling exhausted all the time. I seem to have a permanent headache and also discomfort in my lower abdomen. Wondering anyone else had the same side effects and how soon they pass. Also I currently take mine in the morning, and want to ask if I'd be better taking it nightly instead. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Hello, I swapped from Letrozole to Tamoxifen in February this year, as I’d already got osteoporosis, and Tamoxifen is kinder to bones. I too take mine in the morning, (too many others at night!) but suspect as the drug accumulates in your system it ‘might’ not make a whole lot of difference.
I suspect you might find differences on different brands? It might be worth logging how you feel on different ones. certainly that was true with Letrozole.
might the tiredness be also due to the whole shock of having had breast cancer diagnosed, and any treatment you’ve already had? It is a huge thing to hear, after all.
by the way, do pop a bit of information on your profile, it helps those who reply to you to know what you’ve been through and the best way to help, doesn’t have to be a lot. Click on your user name, then ‘edit my profile’, then when you’ve done, click ‘save’.
hope things improve for you

Hello sca28, I have been on genesis brand for 8 weeks now. Like you I had terrible headache and flu like symptoms but I found my side effects more manageable after 2 weeks. I take mine just before bed. It is worth trying different brands as they effect people in different ways.
Hi, I started Tamoxifen 6 weeks ago, I felt nauseous and had headaches for the first couple of weeks but I have been fine since. I take mine at night. I thought I’d got away with symptoms but my radiotherapy consultant said they don’t really kick in until after two months! I’m hoping she is wrong.
Yes, I did the first couple of weeks I felt as I did when I was first pregnant. Ok now.
Thats reassuring, thank you, hopefully things will improve soon, good luck to you all ⚘
