Hi Martibhoys welcome to the forum  and sorry to hear how difficult things are for you and your wife right now. None of what is happening is easy for either of you and you will be shell-shocked by it all.

The problem with Lobular Breast Cancer, which is what I had as well, so there is no reason not to expect that she will go on and make a full recovery form this, However Lobular tends to present very differently and often isn't like a lump per sae but it tends to look on scans) like a spiders web with tentacles that can go in different directions in the breast and can cover quite a wide area hence why the area is now bigger than at first was thought.

I also remember my husband feeling exactly as you say you do and he was guided by me in as much as if I was ok then so was he if that makes any sense? In saying that the forum is here for you both if your wife wanted to post and get some help or maybe she doesn't feel up to that right now but there is a while host of support on here if and when she is ready.

Keep positive and keep in touch and do let us know how you are both  getting on. xxx

  • That's the type of cancer that I have too, Marti. I'm sorry she is going through this. Although I haven't been given an MRI, mine was detected by me initially and then by mammogram and ultrasound, I was told the same as Granny59 says. I'm afraid it's not a typical lump forming cancer so tends to get detected when it's already covering a larger area. But the important thing is that it has now been identified and something can be done about it. It is a frightening time though - I am just starting my journey with this too. There are people you or your wife can talk to if you need some extra emotional support. I wish you both all the best.
