Nagging pain twinges, and numbness after mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy 2 and a half years.
Hello,
Where are your pains and numbness?
Do you have a mammogram due?
These questions may seem unrelated but I know so many people who get breast aches and numbness just before a mammogram myself included and I have had six now.
However, my surgeon also told me that internal tissue healing takes far longer than most people imagine. I remember mentioning a dull ache about three years in and he showed me scarring on the mammogram which was probably causing it. He said it might take the full five years and he seems right because I have noticed I rarely notice any problems these days.
If none of this applies or you would just feel better talking to someone or being examined, ask your GP. Also if your pains are elsewhere....you mention nerves..feet? hands? back?...If it pain from these as a result of neuropathy from chemo, you should definitely speak to a specialist for help. Unfortunately I needed an operation and have permanent damage which is now monitored and controlled by neurology. It isn't necessary to worry without someone investigating but I do hope this is a normal side effect many experience.
Take care.
Love Karen
