Hi, I had a mastectomy and immediate reconstruction three weeks ago. The pain is manageable but I find it’s really easy to over do it and then it’s worse. How long did it take for you to be able to do more? Return to work etc?
thanks
Hi LJsy welcome to the forum and sorry to hear how things are for you right now.
I can imagine that when you have no pain it will be easy to forget that you have had major surgery and to then over do things and I don't think that you will be alone in that either.
Have the hospital given you any time-frame to go back to work or left it up to you? Whats your kind of thoughts on time?. I think we are all different and some folks dont take much time off but others need longer so it is a very personal thing.
Sorry not to have been of more help at this point for you.xxxx
They’ve told me it is 6-8 weeks recovery. I am hoping to go back in about 5 weeks, phased return though.
just think I completely underestimated the pain and not very good at letting people do things for me. X
