Hi everyone, I had my first ECT chemo 10 days ago and was very lucky with minor side effects. Will next ones be harder and harder?

Best wishes,

Habba

  • Hi Habba. It all depends on your body to be honest. I sailed through my 1st and  2nd ECT but got cellulitis and oral thrush and ended up in hospital on IV antibiotics from my 3rd cycle. Just listen to your body and dont  w afraid to rest up. If you do start and get any symptoms dont suffer in silence. Good luck xx

I'm sorry to hear that! Thank you for your advice. Hope you are better now. XX

  • I found EC relatively OK, though I couldn't stop vomiting the first cycle so had to get an IV of anti-sickness. Once I had stronger sickness meds, I was nauseous for a week but manageable. The T (docetaxal) I found really hard and they had to reduce my dose for the final 2 cycles. It took me longer and longer to recover the more cycles I had. It can apparently take around a year for your energy levels to return to pre-chemo and I definitely find that I am still crashing in the afternoon, though I don't need to sleep during the day any more, and I finished chemo in January. I did work all the way through all treatment and only finished radiotherapy a couple of weeks ago so not surprising I am still tired out! As Forrest1865 said, everyone is different but listen to your body. Good luck with your remaining cycles.

Thank you for giving your time for replying. You are a very strong lady, having to go through all this with some major side affects. I'm glad it's over for you now and hopefully the energy will be better each day.

    Best wishes
