Going home today yeah. Left breast removed. Sentinel node intact yeah. Expander put in 250cc whatever that means. Reconstruction hopefully in the not to distant future and praying I won’t need chemo or radiation. Keeping everything crossed. I havnt looked at it yet but maybe in a few days when they change the dressing again . Onwards and upwards now GrinGrin

  • Glad that's done for you rest now . Do have a peek at the op area won't be much to see at minute with dressing on . Should then make it easier to look when dressing off .

Listen to your body and rest when needed

I had a bad coughing fit yesterday and god I am so sore now.

  • Regular paracetamol, your poor love! Take it easy, support your op site with the opposite hand when you cough (but you found that out the hard way, bless you, hope the pain eases speedily)

it’s such early days, you’ve got lots of healing to do, so give yourself a gentle wee virtual hug for coming through surgery!

don’t forget to do those exercises. As your nodes are clear you most likely might not need radiotherapy, but the expander is there to keep your skin ready for any reconstruction, they will (I think as I’ve no personal experience) ensure there’s fluid in there to match with what is planned for you. And the fact it’s a temporary fix will mean even if you do have radiotherapy, the expander will be removed in reconstruction as the rads may harden it.
Is right, take a look at the site as soon as you can and remember this will be the worst it will ever look! It will get less bruised and more normal every day. Don’t make a big thing of it, jus glance!
