Counselling

I was diagnosed with grade 1 and grade 2 tumours in September 2019. I have had lumpectomy but was advised that due to my age radiotherapy would not be beneficial especially as my lymph nodes and tumours were clear and low grade.

(I am 72) I have never discussed my cancer with anyone as I don't want to upset my family and not good at talking about my problems with others although I was a drug counsellor in the past. At first I felt nothing when diagnosed but now it is taking over my waking thoughts and becoming an obsession, especially as I now have lymphoedema and a friend has had a second recurrence of her cancer despite mastectomy.

Would on line chat help? Has anyone tried this?

Hi Pensionerp welcome to the forum. So your surgery was just over a year ago which is not a long time.

However, not having spoken about it may not always be the way to go but hey if thta has worked for you then so be it. I think that we are all different and deal with things in the way that we feel is best for us and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. In this case it hasnt so time to try a new way.

Would on line chat help? Well it cant do any harm to try it and if it doesn't work for you then at least you have tried and what about giving  the Macmillan Line a call on 08088080000.

Good luck with this and sending some huge big hugs you way for now.xxx

  • Hi Granny 59.

I think you're right and my way of ignoring it isn't working so maybe I will give the helpline a chance.

If you don't try you will never know! Thanks for your reply and I hope that this may help clear my head. Hugs always welcome, in short supply with grandchildren unable to visit due to Covid.

    Thanks again,

    Paula
