Hi is there anyone in the Falkirk area who would like to take part in some gentle walking and chatting ?
Hi
I'm sure there'll be lots of people in the group who will happily chat to you via these pages. Although I'm not a member of this group I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so just 'bumping' your post back to the top of the discussions page.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Late last year there were quite a few Scottish ladies on the chemo thread from around Edinburgh, West Lothian and Fife as well as from Aberdeenshire and Ayrshire. Pre-covid we'd talked about a day out in St Andrew's, but that was forgotten in the months that followed(!)
Are there any Macmillan groups around, or could you ask at your hospital? There are some great walks around you....I live in London but I'm from East Calder so know the area well! X
Hi
Macmillan organise various fitness programs but unfortunately all on hold due to covid . I’m in Angus and I became friendly with ladies from Dundee at the Moving Forward Course but again not been able to meet up .
It’s very difficult to organise anything just now , I’m now retired as are lots of friends , so I am able to have walks with them but now it’s down to walking with one friend and coffee with one friend at a time ! Miss group meet ups . Do try to go for walks as then you will probably see people to pass the time of day with .
I wish you well and hope you can catch up with friends soon . Old and new .
our Angus Council Gym is now open and I’m enjoying gentle walking on the treadmill. Staff are very helpful , you could enquire near you .
love

Hi
I am from the Falkirk area and would be happy to get together. I complete my treatment next week having had 6 rounds of chemo, two surgeries, and radiotherapy and got my 17th Herceptin treatment on Thursday. Completed !!! Even though the treatment is finished now I still could do with support and friendship from someone who is going through or has gone through this treatment. Due to the Covid situation I have missed the community aspect of Maggies.
So if you’d like to meet up give me a pm. Saying that hope that is possible. !! This new site is not so easy to navigate !!

Hi Londonmumof2
Once this Covid thing settles !!!!!! let’s hope we can still meet up in St Andrews. We were such a support to each other going through our treatment at the same time.
Hope you are doing well and enjoying being back at work.
Take care

Thanks Jojodot ! Let's aim for next spring when hopefully things will have settled. My daughter is enjoying her time there now, and they are coping with it much better than many unis. In freshers a couple of students from the US had a party whilst still in quarantine and were expelled(!), sending a clear message. Last week only 3 cases amongst uni members and in person teaching started last Monday.
How are you doing? Are you back at work, or affected by all the measures? Have you managed to stay well through your treatments after chemo?
I'm on exemestane now which is better than letrozole, so I only feel I have covid rather than am going blind whilst 100 on letrozole! Who'd have thought this would be the hardest part! Back at school with some cases diagnosed (a history teacher, a y12, y10 some with symptoms or parents positive) but pretty well supported. I really miss coming to Scotland, and have booked and cancelled 2 trips to Edinburgh and one to St Andrews:(
Have you heard from ?
Taker care and have a lovely weekend xxx
Hi Londonmumof2
Good to hear your daughter is enjoying uni and the uni have things under control. Our young people have had so much disruption in their lives.
Sorry you are still suffering the effects of the medication.. It must be hard after getting through chemo and surgery and then having to cope with the after effects. Hope things improve for you and your eyes are ok.
I was HER+ so have escaped letrozole etc. I had chemo first. Then a lumpectomy closely followed by a mastectomy. Then 15 radiotherapy sessions.I was lucky to get the second op days before lockdown but as a result lockdown meant that as I recovered and was looking forward to getting back to normal life it wasn’t to be. I think throughout treatment the thing that kept me strong was that one day I would be back socialising and back to my various activities. So life can throw a difficult hand at times. However we can’t change things !
And now am thankful to still be here and feeling good and now really appreciate the little things more than before.
I am feeling well and get my last Herceptin treatment next week. So I have been attending the chemo unit every three week and so have had contact with the team all the way through. Not sure how I feel about going alone but have to tell myself I am finished !! And they tell me I am all clear. Saying that I have still to get my first year mammogram so fingers crossed ! You know how it is !
I retired from teaching a few years ago so don’t have the worry about returning to work. I feel well but probably get more tired and will definitely have to build up my fitness. But I count myself lucky. I can now be a Grandma again to my little ones. My eldest grandchild aged 5 said at first Grandma - are you able to drive the car !!! Can you make my dinner ok !! How quickly they forget !!!!
and I had planned to meet up once I recovered from surgery but it didn’t happen due to Covid. One day ! Hope we can get together with her and Blackcat20and and any others who would like a walk along the West Sands and fish and chips!! Followed by a gin and tonic !!!
Great to hear from you.
