Hi everyone. Just undergone surgery for breast lump removal and four cancerous lymph nodes. Oncologist rang me and discussed preventative treatment. I need to take daily tablet to reduce oestrogen levels which he said could cause a return of the, at present clear, cancer. He's mentioned the Optima trial which I'm reading up on. My dilemma is at 70 yrs old, do I take the chemo treatment, the side effects are more acute and there's no guarantee it will work. He's recommended three weeks of radiotherapy which I'm ok with. Anyone with similar experience?
Hi Saffie,
Sorry, sent by accident! Did your oncologist say what sort of gain you'd have from chemo?
From what I remember(it was a lot to take in) he couldn't give me an answer as to if it would benefit me personally, only that from the research over the years it could be of benefit. Thing is I am scared of going through it if it doesn't have any benefits
