I am 51 yr old diagnosed March 2020 with grade 2 breast cancer plus lymph node spread. Was diagnosed via screening and had no symptoms what so ever, came as quite a shock I can tell you, not sure I am over that as yet...
After much discussion and various changes in direction I started chemotherapy in April, 8 sessions, 4 of FEC, then 4 of Paclitaxel. This has now finished and I am due to get surgery at the end of this month - lumpectomy plus lymph node removal. The plan after that would be radiotherapy followed by hormone therapy. I so wish i had looked for this site months ago, I have already read a good few posts that would have helped me through.
Hi Colly19 and welcome to the forum. I was 59 when like you I was picked up on screening and had like you no visible signs nor symptoms and I can relate to the shock that you felt. Im so glad to hear that you are finding the site and the contents useful and helpful for you we do try to be a good bunch and we all have experience to share with others which can often help and make people less frightened by all the jargon.
Ive inserted a link which if you press should take you straight to the Breast Cancer forum where there are lots of lovely folks who will be by your side for as short or as long as you need them to be.
Best wishes for the rest of the treatment . xxxx
and
To the group! Sorry to see you have been through so much already without the support of this site. But pleased that you have found it now. As, as strange as it might sound you will probably need as much help and support now, as you did back in March.... maybe more!
Here you can ask ANYTHING or just read others posts! Or you can shout and scream and allow yourself to be open and HONEST,which isn't always easy when you are chatting with family and friends.
You'll find a lovely bunch of people on here. All of whom are at different stages of their Cancer journey! I really hope you enjoy getting to know people and that you can find answers to any questions you might have.
Wishing you all the best. Sal xxx
Hi ,
As others have said welcome to the forum. I too was diagnosed in March following a routine mammogram also with no symptoms at all.I have since had surgery ( lumpectomy and removal of sentinel node) radiotherapy and now on hormone therapy.Yes it definitely was a shock and I think I have come to terms with it now - but who knows
You are in the right place and maybe if you take a look at some of the other threads you will find them helpful and amusing (I'm thinking of the AWAKE one here). I hope your surgery goes well as mine did .Sending hugs xx
