I’m waiting for my mastectomy which will be in a few weeks (no firm date as of yet). I’m very lucky to have caught my cancer early and I’ve been told that it’s totally treatable. It did all come as quite a shock to me as was initially diagnosed with DCIS. The extent of my disease was revealed after my lumpectomy/breast reduction and then diagnosed with stage 1. I keep feeling so emotional. It all feels like a horrid nightmare that I can’t awake from. I keep crying and feel so low. It so hard to think of anything else. X
Hello Foxy5,
I am still at the phase of awaiting testing so can't say that I have experienced the same as you. However, it is understandable that you would feel so emotional given the situation, particularly as things have changed from your original expectations.
It is so difficult to think of other things, I know. Are there activities you can do which occupy your headspace, perhaps, just to give you a break? For example, arts/crafts, playing an instrument or even videogames. I personally find things helpful which require my attention as this gives my mind less time to wander.
I really hope you can get some solace soon.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
