Hi I’m due my op on Friday I’m having my nipple removed to I’m absolutely past myself and this week can’t go any slower , will they get it all , what if they find more , will it have grown I know I’m probably being stupid x
.....nothing stupid about your fears. I can't imagine there is anyone on this site who didn't have similar thoughts. But the facts show that in most cases the surgeons manage to remove all that is needed and when the margins aren't clear....analysis of the area removed shows this....it is possible to remove it during a second op.
My surgeon always told me that the day of my op was the day I stopped having cancer. The treatments afterwards are precautionary to prevent recurrence .
My op was five years ago in October . This is a difficult week for you but it will soon be over.
I'm sure it will go well on Friday.
Cyber hugs.
Karen
Hi,
I hope your operation goes well.It doesn't matter if it has grown as your surgeon will remove it.I had my nipple removed as it had crept down the duct to it,no problem. The areola still even responds to touch, hot, cold etc, amazing I certainly didn't expect that. The scar across is also near invisible there after just over 3 months.
Stay safe,
Yvie
Thank you so much , I just needed some reassurance, everybody on this site has been unbelievably helpful , I had a bad day yesterday, crying most of the day something I normally try stopping but couldn’t, I’ve got a Covid test due tomorrow which I’m also dreading I’ve never felt this scared in my life once again I thank you for you lovely message xx
You will be fine. Covid test is a bit unpleasant but very quick and you’ll feel better once you’ve had your operation. Each step is a step closer to recovery. You’re stronger than you think! Be kind to yourself everyday xx
Hi Ed48,
Be kind to yourself ,it is quite normal to be worried at this stage -usually fear of the unknown. The staff at your hospital will be so kind and reassuring and will answer all your questions and take very good care of you. Before you know it you will be waking up from the anaesthetic and your cancer will be gone! Your stay in hospital will be very brief and then you will be back to your own bed in your own home. I will be thinking of you on Friday - sending big hugs xx Kwissy
