Hi everyone, I got diagnosed with breast cancer last night, I’m in total shock. I phoned the doctors few weeks ago after finding a pea size lump, they referred me straight to breast Specialist, when I went to the appointment I had an ultrasound and biopsy taken. After waiting what feels like forever I had my result appointment two weeks later. Nothing was said after my biopsy, just that I’ll get an appointment for my results.
so yesterday I went to my appointment. I sat down and the doctor said “so what have you been told?” I replied nothing I had a ultrasound and biopsy and was told to come back for my results. No concerns at that time. Well after that his face said it all.
Its cancer!!!
the next part I zoned out, I’m only 32 I told him.
I need to have mri and mammogram to check for any other lumps etc, once I’ve got results for that, they will do surgery and remove them I’ll need radiotherapy. And maybe some tablets for 10 years. That’s all I can remember. Has anyone else been through this at such a young age. Would love to hear back from you all.
So sorry to hear this - I am not young (50 something) But similar story. But I think I was much luckier than you ... got the terrible news straight away at my first day of tests and appointments. The doctor that was doing the biopsy gave me a knowing look. And put a clip on the lump the consultant that I saw next told me straight up it was cancer and the results would confirm what kind and what treatment.
I am sure you have remembered right what consultant said. Lumpectomy operation was very straight forward. You are home in your own bed that night.
you have got this really early, all will be well.
I am sure someone more your age will be along soon but thought you might want to talk x
Hi and
Warm welcome to the club no one expected to find themselves joining :-/
Jayne, just wanted to mention the earlier (just had first chemo) message you posted actually went to the 'Ask a Work Support Advisor'
If you did have a question for the Work Support Advisor - you may need to ask again ?
I'm assuming you meant the first chemo comment to be posted in the breast group, so I have asked Admin to place it here into the July Chemo Club discussion.
Dani - You must still be in shock as that news must have been the last thing you were expecting at only 32 :-/
Fingers crossed all the other standard scan results you are going to be having won't reveal any other surprises and that this seems to have been found early. Great you have posted in the under 50's group as well, there are several here quite young who will no doubt get back to you in either group. If you go to the Under 50's Breast Group and click on the 'Discussions' tab you should find any recent messages from other younger members
Hope this is of some little help for now, take care, G n' J
Many thanks for rescuing me from the muddle x
