Hi all

In the same spirit as 's good news thoughts I'd share some & see if its just my body that is miraculous??!!

Had my first bisph Weds and though felt like death Thursday by last night realised that the normal joint/bone aches that I feel from letrozole (particularly the knee pain on shifting my lazy bum from the sofa) seem to have either disappeared or got a lot better ( the jury is still out).  Now I have, unfortunately, last night also started a new brand of letrozole so my experiment is not medically approved but has anyone found the same GOOD side effect re bisph's?

  • Hi Yorkshire_defector,

Can't say that they help my knee pain but definitely seem to be helping my osteoparosis . I have been on them for about 4 years and the bone scans show an improvement which is all to the good . I take Ibandronic Acid 150mgs(another Bisphos) orally once a month and was told to carry on with them since being diagnosed with breast cancer in march this year.

Generally feel quite creaky on the day I take them and the day after and then it improves slowly over the month. I am also taking Letrozole each evening  having restarted them post radiotherapy. It will be intersting to see what others say.Do you think the make of Letrozole makes a difference with regards to side effects?

  • Hi , that's great you didn't hange much of an issue with the Zoledronic avid this time (just moved no.2 from next week to August). Can I ask what brand of Letrozole you are taking now?

  • Hi

I do think, as do quite a lot of ladies on this site, that the brand does indeed make a difference.  I was on one brand (forget the name, cipla possibly) for the first 2 weeks and I was walking like a 90+ year old for most of the morning, changed to Accord and though I still experienced some pain, there was an immediate improvement in pain levels and mobility....which improved even more on the current brand.  I also think however that the same brand is not ideal for all, you've got to go through a few to find what's best for you.  Luckily (!!) in these challenging times I think supplies have gone a bit haywire so unexpectedly I ended up with a new brand.

There's a thread by Londonmumof2 ‘letrozole brand poll’ which will give you some reading material re the above..and there's no doubt many others too.

  • Hi

Yep, think I get off quite lightly with side effects by all counts!  The current letrozole brand is Dr Reddys...lets hope that the current effects last eh.

Hope your 2nd lot of the acid is kinder to you and that you're doing well.
