Hi i started back in February for treatment for HERS 2. Ive had 4 x 3 weekly rounds of EC. My last chemotherapy was on the 23rd April and my op was 23rd May. I now have to wait until the end of July as i am seeing my oncologist on the 27th before treatment continues, normally the same week. Could anyone tell me have they waited this amount of time before returning for chemotherapy and targeted drugs as i haven't had any targeted drugs yet. I had a telephone consultation this week with my oncologist for my care plan and she didn't seem concerned.
Thanks,
Gina.
Hi gina62
I didn't have chemo, but I'm replying to bump your post up as well in case others have more information for you.
My friend was diagnosed a month after me with HER2 and she was still undergoing herceptin injections when she returned to work after a year. She works for gov. so was 6 months full and 6 months half pay and that's why she stayed off for the year and needed to go back after the year was up. She was still pretty poorly as she was ER+ too and her hips gave up on her, so she was really struggling to walk too.
I hope someone with personal experience can help,
Best wishes,
Hi gina62 I too am HER2+ as well as ER+ and PR+.
I’ve had 4 x EC and 2 x T with another 2 x T to go. Along with the T I’ve had Herceptin and Perjeta infusions which will continue fir another 16 cycles. I haven’t had surgery yet, I expect this to be around end of September, beginning of October. I do not have any other chemo scheduled after that next 2 cycles.
I was told not to compare treatment plans with others as it is personalised and we have to put our trust in the experts I think but if you’re concerned I would ask for a second opinion or ask your oncologist to provide more details...
Good luck and take care
Christine
Hi,
I had 3 tumours (her2 positive, her2negative, triple negative) I had 3 months EC, then 3 months weekly pacitaxol and carboplatin. That stopped on 20th March. I had single mastectomy on 29th April. I started herceptin on 16th June. I start zometa tomorrow. Keep pushing and ask the questions. I think they need your body to recover enough before bombarding it with drugs again but sometimes I have found a lack of urgency with some dr’s.
enjoy this time before it starts again. If your oncologist isn’t too worried then I’m sure it will be ok. I know it’s an anxious time.
much love xxx
