Hi all, trivial query alert!
I’d like to know if anyone knows why i was given calci chew after my 2nd zometa infusions? I didn’t get it with the first, nor have i had any scans or any blood tests since my last chemo last October. So its not as if anything is known to have changed.
I didn’t look in the bag at the time so was surprised to find it and of course it was too late to ask.
thanks in advance
Thanks GRANNY59 I thought of that but I'm already taking a good quality multi vitamin which includes calcium as told to by the radiotherapy onc plus I didn’t get them with the 1st one.
no bloods were done prior to both infusions so I can’t see why they would decide to give them this timeI
haven’t taken them as too much calcium isn’t brill!
Was gonna ask at my 1st yearly mammogram which should have been at the beginning of May but I’ve been told it’ll probably be cancelled till next year.
Hi...not been here for ages! I've continued on my Adcal D3 tablets for the last 6 months and was told my next Zometa infusion would be October because of Covid. I got a phone call on Monday saying I was in the diary this week!...so quickly arranged blood tests and had my infusion this evening. I'm happy about this as it keeps me 'on schedule'. Sorry, doesn't answer question about Calcichew but I've only been taking half the dose of Adcal and my bloods were spot on today.
p.s. It's a year since I started chemo and I've been told my 'yearly' mammogram will be taken from my surgery date in December....so 18 months from diagnosis.
Thanks guys, i understand why i would be given them if my blood test showed a problem, but since I haven’t had a blood test since before my last chemo last october, AND I’ve been told to take over the counter vit d and calcium i cant work out why I got them this time but not at my previous one last December. If it happens next time I’m asking there and then as ill be more alert!
re mammogram, i was diagnosed and had surgery last May and was told in December i would get a yearly one starting this may. I realise with covid everything is delayed, [i had to ring over the zometa or I’d still be waiting for that!]. Ive emailed and been told they aren’t doing face to face diagnostics or consultations other than nhs ones, and to be prepared to miss it this year. [im using our works health insurance]
im not too worried as all my previous ones have been clear and i found my lump myself so if i was worried ill be down the docs . It’d just be nice to get the reassurance.
Hi ruthie2
why not give your oncologists secretary a call and ask her if she enquire the reason for you getting the chew . The secretaries are usually so nice and helpful . You could give her your email address to get back to you . Or ask for theirs and send them your questions with a list of any supplements that you are taking .
I get vitamin D and calcium in prescription as I’m on weekly Bisphosphonates. These were prescribed by my oncologist.
I was getting other blood tests done at my GP and asked to get my calcium levels checked too. They were fine .
Dont ponder any longer just get in touch with your oncologists secretary.
let us know if they were helpful .
love
Ruby Rose
