Hi,

I am currently having chemotherapy for triple negative breast cancer. This is a preventative, i have had the tumor removed. So I have just had my third round of fec-t. They reduced my dose because I couldn't sleep, or see very well. The second and third have been much kinder to me.

In less than 3 weeks I will have the T part of my treatment which I'm really scared about. Think its called dexotine. Every time I have chemo I worry I will die from it, not sure if its covid related, try to not think about that all! I was just wondering if anyone else has had this drug and can put my mind at ease? I hear you get more of allergic reaction from this one and aches and pains?

I also worry about getting other cancers and not knowing, I try not to think about the what ifs but I was just wondering  how do others cope with this?

Hope you all are doing OK, take care.xc

    Morning

Doesn't seem so long ago you were asking about starting chemo, the weeks seem to have flown by ?

Is your next type of Chemo Docetaxel by any chance as this it what is commonly referred to as T because the alternative name for it is Taxotere.

Great to see you are almost halfway through - Best wishes, G n' J

Hi , my chemo cocktail was ec - t . I've had 2 cycles of the t so far and yes I've had bone pain the first cycle was horrific but lasted about 4 days of pain it calmed down for the 2nd cycle of t , I still had pain but wasnt so bad. I started taking an antihistamine lotradine- and the pains wasnt as severe. And as for allergic reaction theyll monitor you while your having your first cycle , but they do give you 3 days of steroids to help with any reactions. I've been fortunate and not had one. The other side effects is lack of sleep ( down to the steroids ) for the first week and then the need to run to the loo as it can make you loose. But in all honesty I've managed it quite well. Its not as scary as you might think. I've been rough for the first week but after this I've felt quite normal.

Hope this helps but your fears of T to bed.

    Good luck and take care

  • Hello

I had FEC-t as well and I found the fec much worse. I was dreading docetaxel from what people said about it but I didnt really have a problem with it, I just felt tired some days but other than that I was ok. I worry alot too so I cant help you with that as I'm as bad. I'm trying to read books about relaxation to see if it helps.

  • Hello Ju72,

Thank you for this comment. It gives me a bit of hope. I've had my first T after 4 FEC. The next one is scheduled for a week tomorrow. I've struggled - I'll be honest. I think partly because you don't know what you are supposed to be like. I had a raised temperature for me for about a week, which I think always makes you feel yuck! And the aches and pains, intense like you for four days and then a dull ache for another couple of days. I have had a metallic taste in my mouth which is still with me but you can cope with that with will power. So important to drink. It has been the tiredness that has hit me the most. Sleep? I could sleep for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland!!!! Do a small thing and I'd have to sit down and then I'd be asleep. There have been moments of yes it's passing, but then it comes back for me. So hearing your second one wasn't as bad as the first gives me hope. Thank you

Chocolatecat, not everyone is the same. I hoope you sail though it! Let us know how you get on.
