Hi everyone, I'm due to start taking tamoxifen tomorrow. Just wondering when is the best time to take it? First thought is to take at night and hopefully sleep through some side effects. Has anyone tried different times and found it made a difference?
Hi Cheeboe
Most take them at night, but If having a drink to swallow it with increases your chances of getting during the night for a pee or it interferes with your sleep or you are one of the few who find it makes them a little queasy - take it in the morning.
Whatever fits in with your routine and suits you the best really.

Hi Cheeboe I don,t think it really matters, i took mine in the morning and my friend took hers in the evening neither of us found any difference. I think if you are unfortunate to get any side effects it does not matter when you take i, and please don,t forget not everyone gets the side effects my friend and i did not good luck xx
Hi Cheeboe
i have tried every time of day and as wino says it makes no difference to me, but as says , it is recommended to drink a full glass of water when you take it so that may affect when you decide to take it.
I take mine in a morning now when I wake up, then if I have forgotten it I have a chance to take it later.
Whatever suits you.

Hi Cheeboe
Up until a week ago I was taking tamoxifen at 2pm. Since February I have been waking up at 2am with the sweats and pounding heart and seeing lights flashing with my eyes closed. Having discussed with the Bcn this I changed to 7pm and have slept through the night. I didn't know if you took tablets at different times it would make a difference as I thought it was stress.
I hope this helps

Keep battling out there!
Thanks everyone, I think I will start off taking it at bedtime because I'm least likely to forget them see how I get on. Fingers crossed not too many side effects. I've not had a period for 6 months anyway and been getting mild hot flushes since chemo so we'll see. Appreciate the advice xx
