Hi I’m so confused I went to the clinic had a mammogram, ultrasound and a core biopsy. Then the consultant wanted to see me before I left, she said I’m sorry to say we found a tumour but it’s small and there’s so much we can do know , she said when you come back make sure you have someone with you, well I was in shock, once I got home and I told my adult children then it hit me well I haven’t had results from biopsy yet. So I called the number they gave me a spoke to a nurse, she said I do g have all your notes but the doctor was preparing you and it’s good you have prepared your children, but all I can think is have I got cancer or not, even though they said all that to me. I mean can they tell you that before a biopsy report? Sorry to ramble on xx
Hello . Sorry you find yourself here and in limbo. Just to prepare you the majority of people on this forum have had a BC diagnosis and while we to have people awaiting test results and given the all clear they generally don't hang around.
So did you find a lump or was it a routine mammogram? I realised today it's 5 years exactly since I had my diagnosis-my story is on my profile, no lump first screening.
Have they given you a date for results ?
Hi Adela,
Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I got my mammogram ultrasound and biopsy in October. The doctor who did my biopsy told me that day I had cancer. I did ask though.
I’m a nurse and could tell by how he was talking it looked like cancer so I asked as all the waiting is soo awful. In general I think they do that many and have so much experience in identifying cysts tumours etc they have a very good idea what it is.
However until the biopsy comes back it’s not a definite. The results of the biopsy tell you the grade and size and what your treatment plan is. The waiting is awful but as the Consultant told you there is so much they can do. Wishing you speedy results. Take care xxx
They also found another lump I hadn’t noticed but the Lady who did scan said This one looks like a cyst but the other one I’ve not really seen before it was my consultant who told me that day it was a tumour she had seen on the mammogram I hope your keep a well as can be thanks for your reply xx
Hi,
I got a letter a couple of days after the mammogram ultrasound and biopsy with an appointment to see the breast care surgeon Consultation. So about 2 week wait for results from biopsy and then they discuss what they found the type and grade and what your options are i.e surgery chemo radiotherapy. You also have to get a CT scan and bone scan I’m afraid there’s a lot of waiting for tests and results which is overwhelming. I remember trying to keep busy. I have a 10 year old girl and 7 year old boy so they kept me busy. However with Covid it’s hard to get out and about and occupied. I love tv so watch a lot. I’m doing good half way through my treatment. Wishing you speedy results xxx
Hi, so sorry you found yourself here but it is one of the best places to get help advice support and information, just ask, even if you think it’s daft, I guarantee it’s not!
i was also told I had bc in clinic straight after mammogram ultrasound and biopsy, the consultant said if the results case back anything other than cancer he would be questioning them. He said much later that they can tell as they have so many years of experience under their belt. I did realise that it wasn’t good when I was asked if I’d brought anyone with me after my initial exam!
wjat happens next varies from area to area, I had no scans of any type at all until the planning ct at radiotherapy many months later. I got my results a week later ( not all but enough) surgery 12 days after first diagnosis and was told everything else 2 weeks after that.
as it stands right now all you know is that the lump is cancerous, I was told the best outcome was surgery followed by radiotherapy and possibly hormone treatment. I ended up with chemo, radio, hormone treatment and bone iv, but not everyone does. In the end mine was treatable just more treatment than I originally thought, and if I can do this, everyone can, and you can too.
youll have so much going through your head right now, please talk to someone cos you’ll be going round and round and round. I did ring Macmillan & told me to go to the breast cancer care website which I did and I’ve called the nurses there a few times, they have all had bc do do understand. Or just keep posting on here, anytime.
much love and hugs
Morning
How are you feeling this morning ?
Don't know what day you had biopsies taken but it can be 7 days or so before the full results come through depending on what they test for.
If one is a cyst and they tried to biopsy it they would have found fluid not tissue as such and I'm afraid it does sound like they are trying to prepare you for bad news.
Not all breast lumps are cancer fingers crossed yours is benign too, so there is still hope - but as mentioned they are very experienced at taking an educated guess at what is being noticed on the scan screens.
Do let us know when you get a date for your results.
Take care and fingers crossed for good luck G n' J
Hi Adella50
I had some discomfort under my arm pit at the start of lockdown. Checked myself but didn’t find the lump till 8 weeks later. Went straight to GP who got me a hospital appointment within two weeks. Mammogram, scan, biopsy. Tumour found. Went for the results yesterday. There are cell changes and they wanted to do another biopsy. But because of my family history they’ve decided to take the tumour and some more tissue away and test them all.
I hope your test results come back quickly and it’s positive x
i waited 6 weeks before i got my results from my biopsy, but i had been sent away and told not to worry. So never in a 100 years did i think i had cancer, especially after it took them so long to call me back. But all hospitals are different, give them a ring and ask them if you want to know how long you'll be waiting, they are good at keeping you up to date when you speak to them.
Keep positive though, you haven't been told anything for certain yet, as someone else mentioned there are people like you who come on here covinced or told its cancer then when they go for results it isn't.
If it is you'll manage, i'm cancer free for a year now, the treatment they have now is amazing.
Keep coming and talking to us, what ever the results xx
Than you for taking the time to reply as soon as I hear anything I will let you no I’m not finding this forum easy to use lol I’m a bit dopey I can only get on through email I don’t think it has an app xx take care
