Hi all,

just wondering if anyone else has had any side effects from the Herceptin Injection but was fine with it throughout chemotherapy?

Had my 4th injection on Monday and Thursday felt very lethargic (more than normal) checked temp and is was ok kept eye on it and it gradually went up..... had headache, breathless, was tired and had had dizzy spells. All side effects I’ve read.....

Woke at 3am Friday morning with temp of 39.1..... hubby rang 111 for advice as my symptoms were the same as covid19.... ended up paramedics coming out and checking me over, after an of them being in our house giving me paracetamol and ibuprofen my temp had come down to 37.2 so they were happy to leave me at home if I was happy. Obviously I said yes as didn’t want risk being put on a covid ward in hospital...... slept most of Friday (I think) checking temp n taking paracetamol. But woke Saturday morning feeling rough again! Slightly breathless but not as bad. Hubby rang 111 again in meantime my son got me an appointment at a drive thru covid testing centre.

Didn't get there as 111 dr rang and talked to hubby and advised son take me straight to The Red Zone at Stafford Hospital..... so blood tests, chest X-ray, ecg, obs all done they treating me for chest or lung infection so had to be admitted which meant covid swab was done.... don’t wish one of those on my worst enemy! After 3 lots of IV antibiotics and a bag of fluid I’m waiting to see what covid results are as I’m in a side room on the covid ward!

It’s certainly been an experience xx

    Hi

    No results as yet!
Hope your test goes ok and you start you chemo x

Luckily all my treatment is complete just on Herceptin injection for the next year!!! But if it keeps cancer away then that’s fine by me xx

  • Hi

Sorry your in NHS hotel . Like you I've had my op and done chemo . Now on Herceptin had no 6 two weeks ago. Also will get second biannual Bisphosphonate infusion .

I will follow your story with interest because like you I get a list of minor SE ( compared to chemo )

they make me paranoid about Covid at times . Dry cough left over from chemo doesn't help . As well as the fatigue & headache  I also get nausea . One thing I haven't had is temp ( reverted to chemo routine and check it daily )

Were you shielded I got letter middle of March ...seems a lifetime ago .

My neice who was working on Covid ward tested positive spent Seven days in isolation at home . Although not ready for f/t work she was fine after seven days just very tired Sleeping

hope you get your results soon so you can get on with getting better .

    Hi , (Margaret)

Ive been told test was negative but they have been having false negative results so nurse spoke to dr and he asked for a 2nd test so had to have it done again! So another 24 hours of waiting!

Yes I had shielding letter in March and have literally gone to hospital appointments and straight back home.

Looks like phone call to Oncology consultant when I get home to see where we go from here. Supposed to be having Echo on Thursday but guessing that will have to be rearranged

I’ll keep you up dated xx

  • Hi

yep that's all I've been doing into hospital and home . I' m waiting for echo appointment should have had it at end of March but I deferred it saying to Onco would rather wait til best practice put In place . So it is due in June along with my mammogram Flushed can't believe it been a year .

    Hope you keep well

    keep in touch

    Hi

I'm another on Herceptin after completing all other treatments.  Tuesday will be injection 10 and I've had a range of side effects, all mild thankfully but definitely the worst one is the aches and pains, especially in my legs.  Had the headache, nausea, funny legs at night, sort of restless.

I had my 1st year mammogram at the end of Apr and was glad when it came back as clear.  Funny, after all the stuff I've subjected my body to over the past year it is silly to think that the Cancer stood a chance but still I worried, especially as my remaining boob has been particularly painful for the last few months, apparently curtesy of Herceptin too messing with my hormones being the likely cause.

Tummy aches are another side effect I regularly seem to get, Oh and mid way through each cycle I get a day or two when everything seems to go straight through me very rapidly.

Keep going ladies and stay safe

    XOXO

    Hi

I think it started after the 2nd or 3rd round but have had it ever since, it only lasted for about a day but the unfortunate thing is that I get no warning which would be an issue if I was away from home.  Lucky we're under lockdown isn't it?

    XOXO

Looks like I’ve picked up stomach bug on top of chest infection

Had swab results from covid19 test and that was negative Thumbsup

So I can go home tomorrow with oral antibiotics

Hopefully then I might get a decent nights sleep xx

    Stay Safe everyone xx
