hi everyone, me again . i ve been advised to wear a soft bra for rdiotherapy, but having big boobs,( 32L) i cant get one! i could take the wire out of my bra , but have you got any other ideas?,
hugs christine x
Try to find a mastectomy bra as they are very soft inside . I'm a G cup and always wear underwired but you can't really have pressure around breast during radiotherapy as skin cancer get delicate. I bought mine online from Debenhams and went up two back sizes to endure breathing room. If you order online you can try at home.
Have you had your planning appointment yet? I had to have a mould made which is quite normal for bigger breasts and makes sessions quicker. Funny sensation having a plaster cast made of your boobs!
I used E45 cream and heir a bottle of aloe Vera in fridge to cool skin. You will also be offered dressing for underneath the breast as it will probably become 'wet' . I didn't get in with dressing so used a sanitary towel u see my bra.
Taking wires out of bras is fine but you may need a bigger back size so no pressure so maybe but a couple of bigger size. Cotton is preferable but if you are handy you could always line existing bras with cotton.
Radiotherapy is surprisingly quick ! 10 minute lie down and painless .

Hi boober,
I did take the wire out of one of my bras post op and it worked reasonably well.I bought new bras in readiness for the radiotherapy before lockdown. They give good support and are wire free. Having seen the other post on here I have also ordered bra extenders as a backup plan to give a bit of leeway if needed.I hope you manage to sort out a solution and wish you well in your ongoing treatment. Sending hugs xx
Hi.
I tried 3 diff towns to get a bra for RT but couldn't get one (FF). I was fretting about it (I normally wear undrrwired).
Someone mentioned the Ta Ta Bra slso called the Ta Ta Towel. It's a USA product and not cheap...tajes prob 3 weeks to arrive?
I thought I'd make one instead...seems simple enough. I left it too late to finish & ran out of steam.
Actually I really didn't need to wear anything other than a non-wired bra &;I had made a big fuss over nothing BUT I did have Partial Breast RT (not Whole Breast)...so was spared the area of the crease.
I was told by the surgeon & later the Onc.that I would have PBI because of large breast but the Rad told me it was becsuse I was especially concerned about potential Lung Fibrosis. Anyway, DCIS rhs maybe was a reason for PBI.
I did think about putting a padded dressing that has a non-stick side under the crease but wrapped around the bottom of the cup (if that makes sense). Also a cheap bra is good as the cream makes a mess.
I think the ta ta towel idea looks good...you just need to find someone who's good at sewing.
Hope it helps.
P.P. x

Hi
Warm welcome to the group, although sorry you had to find us :-/
Asda stock very few if any of their Post Surgery Bra's Range instore.
They have post surgery swimwear as well, but they all have to be ordered online for collection at your local store.

Hi
Welcome to the group! I have to recommend Amoena who have a massive range of post surgery bras and swimwear which you can order online. Returns are easy. I am very picky about bras and I think I returned two before I was happy. It might not be the cheapest option but the choice is amazing. Worth a look. (I sound like an advert but I don't work for them - honest!). Wishing you all the best for your treatment. x
