Had my 1st chemo today. 1 down 5 to go. Not sure how I feel, just a bit emotional. Drinking plenty of water, got a headache but apart from that not feeling too bad. Had EC, very red and toxic looking.
Good luck everyone starting soon xxx
Hi, you’re bound to be emotional! I know I was. Was an old hand by the end tho.
i had 3 ec for the first half and found it very manageable, did get tired as it went on but still worked, went running and went away etc, one thing I did find was that I would get very emotional once the steroids wore off, I mentioned it and they were reduced.
But everyone is different and responds differently, listen to your body and do what it tells you, unfortunately mine told me to eats loads of white carbs to ease nausea!
The monthly chemo thread is a good source of info, loads of experience available there,
take care x
Hi did you suffer a lot from Nausea then?, only I thought that was one of the side effects they had well under control.
Hi Dab some people suffer a lot from nausea . You should be given 5days worth of anti nausea drugs take them even if you don’t feel sick
prevention better than cure . If you still nauseous or vomit tell your team they can change medication .
I still get nausea with the Herceptin I’m on til next Jan .

Hi ladies starting the chemo journey !
I've had 3 sessions of ec , I move to t tomorrow !! Eeek
I found ec really quite manageable , after the first session my SE was , nausea for about 4 days but I took the anti sick meds they give you and ate white carbs every 3 hours. Believe me the white carbs are your friend, on day 2 I had a hot flash ( not flush ) which lasted 2 days which is common apparently just monitor your temp and if it goes above 37.5 contact the care team. The main issue I had was constipation its horrific. Even though I was having cereal at breakfast and having lots of salad and veg. Dont suffer in silence speak with your onco team. My other 2 sessions followed similar path for side effects. Obviously lack of sleep is a given when taking steroids. Weeks 2 and 3 of all the cycles I've felt pretty normal.
Everyone has different side effects I should thought this might over some comfort to those starting. My family say I've aced the first 3 sessions, I'm hoping the next 3 go as well.
Good luck ladies
Hi
thanks for your post. I am due to start ec next week so it was really helpful especially about the constipation lol. I know we all have different experiences but it is nice to share them on here and get support and advice.
Fingers crossed your next 3 cycles go just as well.
